OverviewThe ICT Capacity Building Programme (ICBP) is a US$5.2 million programme meant to develop the ICT private sector in Sri Lanka through short term stimuli, funded by the World Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka and overseen by the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka, the apex government body for ICT policy. ObjectiveThe main objective of the implementation mechanism is to develop an employable workforce by incentivizing the certification of individuals at the entry level, so as to create a pool of candidates that are not only ICT literate but suitable for entry into the ICT workforce.. To support this objective, the grant intends to cover the certification cost up to USD 60. If the actual certification cost is less than USD60, then the certification cost will be the amount that would be paid. DeadlineThe grant scheme will be open only until the 30th September, 2011. Applicants have to successfully complete the exam and update the details on the website prior to 30th September, 2011. - Student enter the certification details
- Student update the ‘passed’ status, if not done in 2 above (this has to be completed within 2 weeks from the examination date).
- Student is required to send a signed copy of the certification (signed by the student), which is printable after the exam to the address given below.
ICBP Training Voucher Scheme Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka 160/24, Kirimandala Mawatha, Colombo 05. - List of students who have registered and completed 1 - 3 above are sent to the relevant Tester for validation. This is done on the 2nd week of every month for the examinations completed in the previous month. (for example, examinations held during March ’09, will be sent on the 15th April 2009)
- Cheques will be posted to the address provided by the student on the website. Time taken for the payment to be finalized will vary from 4 weeks to 8 weeks from the examination date.
Definitions / Conditions
- Only the certification cost (not training costs) will be reimbursed (up to USD 60)
- Each applicant will benefit only upto USD 60 from this strategy.
- Recent school leavers, undergraduate, university graduates, and employees with less than 1 year’s work experience are encouraged to apply.
- The scheme would target youth but there would be no age restriction on eligibility.
- The registration of students will be made online; the students have to register themselves through (www.futureisit.lk) website.
- An applicant can only benefit once from this strategy.
- The payment will be made directly to the student in a form of a cheque, posted to the address entered on the website.
